The hotel is located in front of the Tortuguero Lagoon which is the main natural canal and which leads to the Tortuguero National Park at only a five minute boat ride from the hotel.

Tortuguero National Park
The Tortuguero National Park is located on Costa Rica’s Caribbean Coast, in the Province of Limón. The park was created on November 13th, 1975. The park features a conservation area that amasses 18,949 hectares of protected lands and 52,265 hectares of protected water zones. This park constitutes the most important nesting site for the Green Turtles in the Occidental Caribbean, other species such as the Leatherback Turtle, where we derive the name of our lodge, and the Carey Turtle are also present in this area. The lagoons and navigable canals make up the main parts of the park and are the natural habitats for such species as crocodiles, caimans, manatees, turtles, crustaceans, and exotic living fossils such as the Tropical Gar among others; this National Park was created for the protection of the great variety of flora and fauna that can be found in the area and it is part of the Wetlands of International Importance under the RAMSAR Convention.
